Morning all-

This is one of those things that annoy me-sorry. But, why is it that some of these agencies that cast for background work still get away with "charging" a fee for their registration? They can't say it's for film because we all are doing digital, and they can't say it's for administration asst for the paper work when you have to print it out from your own printer. Should I be charging them for my ink that I use to print out their form?

Of course someone will say look the other way-you'll make it up when you book your first job. Whats $35.00 compared to $250.00 plus when working on a commercial? And thats my point. Why pay when you know the agency gets paid when they book people on these jobs. Seems to me we're paying their rent and rental fees of the place where they hold these calls if they don't have a large enough office.

Am I the only one that feels this way....? Where are my pills?

Don't think of these companies as "agencies". They have nothing to do with actors. They're just companies that provide extras and that's it. So they don't have to abide by the same labor laws as real talent agencies.

As for the nominal fee, they're a business. They need to pay the rent. So get over it.

We have worked thru Sylvia Fay and Grant Wilfley [formerly Joy Todd} for over fifteen years and they NEVER charged us even a "nominal fee".

How did they ever pay their rent??
