Hey everyone!

I am a model for 5 years straight now, and you know where I started, at Destination World Modeling Management. Yes I paid for my portfolio, so WHAT? Now I make 500-600/hr and it's all WORTH IT. Let me tell you something, ONLY LOSERS sit on Net and type BS losers stories!!! Get a life and DO SOMETHING about it!

Dear Super Model,

While much of what you say is accurate, there are many fledgling actors who rely on Backstage for advice and guidance. I understand your point, but I disagree with your tone. It makes you sound exactly like the LOSERS you apparenlty detest (and incidentally, what are YOU doing on this board??). There's an old adage that says: "Better to light a candle than curse the darkness." These people need your creative input and advice, not your condemnation.

I hope you're saving that $500.-600. an hour you're making now Miss Priss, because in another in five years you'll be living on it.

Wow what an arrogant tone of voice ..supermodel..as Robert said you better save up that money because your looks dont last and with an attitude like that well I dont know..hope you have a college education to back you up also..because that attitude stinks..doesnt matter what you do on the outside..it is what is on the inside that counts..money, and looks come and go but our reputation stays with us forever ..remember that missy...

Good luck..remember you were a newbie at one time too..come back down to earth..easy come easy go..either way hope you make millions..be happy but remember we are all the same..

You make 500-600 per hour
Is that for private modeling (dates)eh??
Or do you work just one hour per year?
Destination World Modeling is a total rip-off

From my personal experience, they ARE a rip off. AND you can look them up on bbb.org which also states they have scammed people. So...good for you if they got you work but alot of other people including myself got screwed over by them.

Stripper shows do not count as modeling.

I'm a bit confused. I didn't think you need representation to be a stripper. Would someone please elaborate? TIA.

I'm snarky.

Believe it or not, strippers even have a union.

It's called "SAG," The Stripping ***holes Guild.

OMG, had to go there and google it:

http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/West/01/31/picketing.strippers.ap

SAN FRANCISCO, California (AP) -- Workers at the nation's only unionized strip club ratified a new contract that restores a pay cut made almost two years ago and improves some benefits.

The two-year contract with the Lusty Lady gradually raises the strippers' pay by $3 per hour, according to the union. The contract ratified Jan. 17 also increases sick pay to 11/2 days.

"We were pretty successful," said Natasha, a union negotiator and Lusty Lady employee who uses just one name.

Strippers last month took to the street outside the club in San Francisco's touristy North Beach neighborhood to protest management's refusal to bring strippers' pay back to a top scale of $27 an hour.

The agreement adds $2 per shift in the first year and $4 per shift in the second year for dancers' prep time to do their hair and makeup. It also lowers a hiring cap, to ensure there are enough shifts to go around.

"There's too many people for the number of shifts, so people weren't getting the number of shifts they were asking for," Natasha said.

The strippers belong to the Exotic Dancers Union, a chapter of the Service Employees International Union, Local 790.

Club manager Darrell Davis declined comment.

I'm snarky.

Transfer, this is seriously crazy. There's still hope for us, after all! I just showed your post to my makeup lady and we're still laughing.

But I have one question: Would you list this union on your FILM resume, or your THEATER resume?

Both.

I've seen casting notices for strippers. Bob Lambert's got one on NYCastings.

Oops. Sorry. It's for a hooker, not a stripper. But come on- hello, Sopranos!

I am not going to comment on the rest of the replies, however I will reply to the original poster.

You don't pay for a Portfolio. A Portfolio is actual examples of print work that have been published. Say you do a print ad for the GAP, it runs in national magazine, or mails outs, You tear out the print ad, and put it into your Portfolio. If you paid someone to take picture sof you, that is NOT a Portfolio. That is called a photo book. Big difference.

It is also against the law for your agent to make you use thier photographer.
