I recently moved from New York to Los Angeles and I'm currently trying to find an agent. I'm currently acting, writing, and producing a new show on youtube my writing partner and I came up with. I'm wondering if I should submit to one of the bigger agencies or try and start out with a smaller one. I was told that it's a lot harder to get into a bigger agency because their more focused on their A-list clients. Should I still shoot for one of the bigger agencies or focus on one of the boutique agencies for now?

Why would a big agency like CAA or Endeavor be interested in you? You need to have heat before they will even consider you. And here's the truth - you don't submit to those agencies. Agents at that level don't open envelopes from unknown actors. At that level, you need to have a referral. Or you need to have something major going on. And if that's the case, they will find you.

Be real about who you are and how far along you are in your career - especially compared to those actors who have been in LA for years, building up their contacts and resumes.

That said, I would target smaller, mid-sized companies that might be willing to take a chance on you.
