Hi,
Has anyone had experience with this management company? I searched the archives and only found one thread in which Jackie Apodaca advised readers to do their research, unfortunately the link posted didn't work for me.
I'd really appreciate any info!

Is this the company you're asking about - http://www.globaloneltd.com/?

I've never heard of them and I'd like to hear more from Miss Stone...

Go to the Better Business Bureau for a good in-depth read. Last I looked they got an F and lots of bad press. They sent out mass emails ages ago to everyone and anyone for representation. I went to meet the woman, (they are in Koreatown) and she was less then impressed when I did not just read and walk out of the room upon her orders. I actually -GASP- dared ask questions about the company and what not. She did not like that. There is another thread on this on the boards with other experiences. I think it was the end of 2006 that people all got the same email. That was when I had my interview. What they are is a "management" company. She or someone else has you read and then they take your packet into their group of "bookers"- about ten of them and they vote on whether to pick you or not. I was not interested at all and knew the feeling was mutual as I was way to full of questions for her. Hey, that's our right as actors. I want a lot of info before engaging in any contract of any description. If someone is any kind of legitimate professional, they should respect that. I do NOT recommend Global One. I trust my spidey-sense.

Secret Agent Man...

BizParentz has a file on Global One (which means we have more than a couple complaints). The owner is Marina Furuta, who has an interesting history as an "agent" up north.

Most of our complaints stemmed from their talent "showcase", Worldwide Star Search,
http://www.worldwidestarsearch.com/,
which is housed at the same address as Global One (and don't you love that stock photo website, when you consider they do models for a living??).

Photos, showcase, and representation are all wrapped together. Clearly a violation of the CA Advance Fee Talent Service Law, IMO.

There were some discussions about Global One on another message board, and we did get contacted by one parent who said she had a positive experience with them, and that her daughter was getting out on print and non-union commercial auditions (few or no jobs if I remember correctly).

I had a similar experience. I submitted for a audition on LA casting, which happened to be at Global One LTD. Once I came in, I auditioned for a host job for some kind of Korean Home Shopping Network, in english. The guy called me to tell me I didn't get the part but he wanted to call me in for a representation audition. I went in and auditioned, the guy (jaysen Kim) looked at the headshots I had, said they were all wrong, that I just needed 2 commercial headshots. That he could get me more shots for 295$ and he had a line of photogs, because they evidentally represent photographers as well? I said I would think about it, and when he called me the very next day, I said no thanks. He was more like a salesman than a manager. From the waiting room it seems like they prey on newbie actors and child actors.

I believe a good rule of thumb is if you have little to no credits and none of the unions either and someone "scouts" you, it is safe to say they do not have your best interests at heart. Newbies are fresh meat and easier to extort. Period. Do not be so naive to think it will be that easy. Unless you are SUPER SUPER hot-looking or can levitate off the ground or read minds etc etc, you have nothing to offer serious industry at this stage and they would not be interested. It's been said over and over and over before but one more time- IF IT SEEMS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE IT PROBABLY IS.

Thanks so much for the replies...they confirmed my thoughts! But now I didn't have to waste the time to meet with them and confirm their sketchiness.

Oh also...Like R. Lee Miller, I went in for an audition off of LA Casting, and I even wondered to myself later if the role actually existed or if it was a ploy to get people in there...
It's off-topic but I am really disappointed in the offerings for females from LA Casting...I've seen way better stuff for men. I was on it a few years ago and I don't recall such a surplus of calls for bikini and topless girls...sometimes for no pay! I don't feel safe going to LA Casting calls anymore. It's a shame.
