Right now I am paying $300 a month for a weekly one-on-one class which last for about 2 hours each week. Also I am taking this voice class to fix my fast talking which is $120 a month twice a month for an hour.

So over all I am paying $420 a month in training. DO you guys think thats to much? How much do you guys pay?

Also since I am just getting back into the swing of things I am doing the one on one class but eventually I am going to get into a actual class, are they cheaper?

in my opinion, it's only worth it if you feel you're progressing... so you really have to look at that yourself to determine if it's worth the cost. are you getting better feedback at auditions/meetings? more callbacks?

I really can't answer as far as specific places, but i'm under the impression that most theatre schools are rather expensive, some up to the thousands for a semester of classes.

That's way too much! For $300 a month, you should be meeting twice a week. The voice class is reasonable but I think that's something you can work on your own. Or in class.

Also, as an agent, I think one on one classes are a complete waste of time. Most agents agree with me. The only time you need to do a one on one is when you're coaching for a specific audition. You need to be in a group where you can also observe and learn from others.

Here's my professional advice - drop both classes and get into one good solid scene study or audition technique class. There are plenty in town.

$420 shit put another $600 on there for me and you can pay my next months rent for me please !! lol !! Hey Dew that's way to much man. SAM is right ask around to your fellow actors and see where they study at. Find out how much they cost and audit a few classes. Which ever is inexpensive and will give you a bang for your bucks go with it. Your present coach is a rip-off !!

My experience in LA is that bread and butter scene study classes that meet once a week seem to hover between $200-300 per month depending on the studio and/or teacher.

Geez, and here I am sweating a $50/month fee to be in a theatre company. $450? Ooooffa. By the way the best advice on here so far is to not have a one on one class. You'll learn a lot more watching other people and getting other perspectives. Audit as many classes as you can and find the right place for yourself.

I completely agree with JJS. You should definitely audit as many schools as possible. L.A. is a buyer's market and you should be very selective. What's right for one actor is not always right for another.

Good luck and please let us know how it all turns out.

Well in the future I am going to try to get into some group classes. Right now I am going to stick with the one on one because I feel I am getting my moneys worth for now. Since I am just getting back into the swing of things I like learning 1 on 1 the technique of acting. Then once I feel like I understand acting technique I will move forward and start taking a group scene class.

There's a class in my area and they want $200 a month for their class. They're calling it an 'actor's bootcamp". And it's held in a suburb of seattle.

They're claiming that you can get work in LA(make a living)/or work up here by taking the class.
If it lasted a couple of months maybe, but not every month.
