Yeah, because obviously someone is walking away with $20 mil in their pocket!
Look, I'm not saying that IMTA doesn't make a huge profit. And I'll completely agree that a lot of people that go there shouldn't be there. And, for some, that there are less expensive ways.
But, I've seen some of the kids there that treat it like it's a summer camp, and frankly so did their parents. My heart doesn't break for them. I've also seen kids that didn't memoraize a monologue until the day before or parents who thought that getting into this business was going to be a piece of cake because they didn't do their research. They expected it to be handed to their children on a silver platter. Again because they didn't do their research. Please, nothing in life comes easy - nothing! Why in the world would this be any different.
Any hard working actor/actress out there knows the sacrifices they've made for this profession. At some point they've had to look in the mirror and say "am I cut out for this" - everyone in life has done that at some point - it's part of growing up and maturing.
IMTA may have its faults, but it also has some good aspects - many of which Brian has benefited from. Are there kids that get hurt, yes and that's unfortunate. But there are also many kids that waste the opportunity as well. It's a business. Pure and simple. It presents an opportunity. What you do with that opportunity and what you make of it is entirely up to the individual.
