Sydney, I get what you are trying to do...really. And I think it is great that you are taking the initiative for your own career (with your parent's guidance!). But the rules are different for kids, than they are for adults. All publicity is NOT good publicity in the kid/teen world. It's not OK to post pictures of yourself, your location, or just approach strangers (Secret Agent Man is a stranger to you). It's dangerous, and it tends to look more desperate coming from a kid or a stagemom. Desperation stinks. You might want to surf around the BizParentz site, but start with the safety stuff: http://www.bizparentz.org/gettingstarted/childsafety.htmlEspecially this article: http://www.bizparentz.org/images/reducing_risk.pdfThen read all the stuff under 'Just Getting Started". You have a few steps to conquer before seeking an agent anyway. When you are ready, you can also find info (specific to kids and teens) about how to find an agent and manager there, under the drop down menu called "The Biz-Ness". Good Luck, A P.S. If you are going to approach adults in a professional manner (this is a business, remember?) you will need to drop the "text message language". No "U" instead of the whole word "you". I know, adults are so uptight, aren't they? True, but you are playing in an adult world, so act like one. Professional people use full words, and they check their spelling.

Hey Syd your not the only one on here who is looking for an agent you know. Focus on your craft more, like the " looking for an agent" ride for a while. Get a few stronger credits under your belt if you don't already have it. At that time two things can happen either the agent will find you. Or it will become much easier for you to get one.

Sydney, As a dad to a teen, I am the one looking out for my son's best interests. We are both looking at casting calls and fielding requests. He most likes the stage but enjoys short films and student projects. I attract VO work for him which he is slowly getting used to. An agent is not even in the picture at the moment. When the time is right and he has good credits, THEN we will look into representation. However, his big shot producer uncle in LA is taking a hand in actively looking for representation here in NY. When it happens, it happens. But it is not a priority at the moment. Good luck to you.....

Sydney -- What are your talents? Do you sing? Dance? Have acting experience? What are you interested in doing? Print, theater, voice over etc... Children don't necessarily need a lot of experience to interest an agent or manager - but they must have talent. As you know from reading Mominbiz's thread on "Getting Started", you are at a difficult age to break into the business -- unless you are very small for your age. If you are an average size, and have average talents, then the best thing to be doing at this stage is LEARN. I understand, from spending too much time on these forums today, that you are getting professional headshots. While this step may help to get in the door, acting/singing/movement classes will help to land the role. Good luck to you.

Sydney, Here is a link to a good local acting program. Look at the teen classes. http://www.hmacting.org/classes.htmlYou need to get involved in local acting groups. It is very difficult without a school theatre group when you are basicly home schooled. There are opportunities in Westchester. You just have to look. Here is a mailing list for what is going on in the northern suburbs. Ask Melinda of M&M Productions to get on the list. mmlibrarytheatre at hotmail.com

Hi there, I'm not familiar with agencies that represents Teen talents... But I do know that at JMM, they held a Monthly audition... You might want to ask your parents to register for you. Just go to this website (http://www.jmmtalent.com) and click on "Schedule an Interview." The next audition is on October 15th. As for classes, there are to schools that offers Teen/Kids program: HB Studio - and click on "View Young People's Classes" - affortable and great way to network with other actors. TVI Studios for Young Actors. The classes are being taught by industry professionals (Director, Casting Director, Working Actors, Acting Coach...etc) - who knows, if you did great in class, one of the instructors can give you a referral to a talent agent. last...but not least... quote: more exposure the better
True, but only exposure within the industry. As in, you get invited to and back for auditions - people see YOU on TV, FILMS, or Theatres. But not on an open public forum.... Good Luck!
