A friend of mine may be relocating to Nashville in a few months (due to work and family issues) she is concerned because things seem to finally be falling into place for her in Pittsburgh.
I was going to ask if anyone knew what was going on in the Nashville area? I know it's a happening place in the music industry, but what about in film and print? Does anyone know what's going on there? Any good agents/agencies,etc.
Any information or even links would be appreciated. Thanks!

This is a valuable question, not only in terms of Nashville specifically, but regarding outlying markets in general.

I was on a job in Nashville and discovered that there are more recording studios in that small city than in entire STATES elsewhere. Like Austin, Texas, it's a magnet and haven for recording artists worldwide, so I can only assume that any advertising or film work would take a back seat to the music industry. But in every city, there will always be advertising agencies that require print models and a correspondingly stronger theatre community that would essentially take up the void left by relatively few other acting oppportunities.

In a previous post I suggested to a young man that he eventually relocate to a market with more potential for actors overall.
I called that, "being where the action is." But a major move is a major consideration and not possible for all. Hope your friend can find a performance niche to fill there Smiler

Forgot to mention regional commercials and independent films as alternative sources of work, too. I was visiting friends in Atlanta last year and found a surprisingly flourishing market for industrials down there as well.

You might want to check with the local SAG and AFTRA offices for acting opportunities wherever you live, as well as with local talent agents. State film commissions also exist in every state in the Union nowadays that are a potential source for who's shooting what, where.

Thanks Robert. I already did get a list of all the affiliated SAG agents for her, so that is a start for sure.
