I am a new actor that recently got signed theatrically with Diverse Talent in August after leaving from a starter-up agency that sent me out either once a month to once every 3 months. After reading such positive things about Diverse on these message boards I was elated when I got signed even though the agents taking me on were new to the agency. I was hoping for a better audition ratio when signing with Diverse, but I have not been sent out by them since being signed. What I would like to know is:

1.) Is there some sort of interim that newly signed actors have to wait through before getting sent out for auditions because agents need to pitch clients to CDs etc.?
2.) Is getting auditions more contingent on the prestige of the agency or the agent?
3.) I have been told by my old agency that I wasn't getting sent out a lot because there weren't many roles out there for me since I am Pacific Islander and don't eactly fit the typical "asian" look. Is this factor true or a cop out excuse? (This only concerns me because if it is true, maybe that's why my new agents haven't been able to get me an audition.)
4.) How can I professionally and effectively express my concern to my new agents about my lack of auditions without coming across as too abrasive?

Overall, I would just like to UNDERSTAND what's going on with my new agents because I don't want to get all worked up, assuming they aren't working for me because I haven't gotten an audition when there may be other factors that influence it.

Sorry for the long post and thank you for bearing with me Roll Eyes.

Yes, better agencies have more clout with CD's. If you were a CD, wouldn't you call the agency that has proven itself? The business is built on relationships, not just talent.

Perhaps there are not as many roles for your type. Patience. This is a marathon. Not a sprint. Commercials have been slow for everyone, no matter what type.

How do you apporach your agents with your concerns? Tell them what's on your mind. Take the to lunch. They work for you, remember? They are on your team. They don't get paid unles you do. You need to have good communication with your agent, and that means telling them what's on your mind.

The work does not stop just because you get am agent. Are you doing your job? Classes, networking, getting some auditions on your own through LAcasting, actorsaccess, etc?

Don't be afraid of people. You can be respectful and still be honest.

I am also in a similar situation. I also upgraded and signed with a theatrical agent several months ago. I haven't been sent out once.

Unfortunately, my agent discourages calls and e-mails unless they are urgent or extremely relevant. This makes communication very difficult.

I wanted to schedule a meeting with my agent, and was told that his schedule is all booked up.
I think it is a sign I need to start looking for a new agent.

Communication is very important. I wish you the best of luck with Diverse! I heard that their theatrical department was very strong. Hopefully you will get called in for auditions soon.

I have also been signed with Diverse since August and have yet to be sent out. I questioned this too but I was thinking "if my agent has something for me they would tell me, they want to make money." I'm not too worried about it right now since my agents have told me about different projects I have been submitted for but the Cd's just aren't interested yet. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Not yet, atleast.
