Is it okay for managers to submit actors for commercial auditions even if they already have separate commercial representation? Or is that considered a conflict of interest?

Managers CANNOT legally get their clients work! ONLY agents can get clients auditions. But because managers are so poorly regulated, they get away with acting like an agent.

Managers submit clients for work all the time. It's like crossing the street when the light's red. Sure, it's illegal but...

So, if my manager "jaywalks" for me, when should I notify my commercial agent? Should I immediately tell him about it, have my manager notify him, or wait until I book the job to let the agent know?

I think your manager needs to be in contact with any agent you have, so everyone's on the same page.

If your manager is acting like another agent, I don't think it matters.

Most agents, especially commercial agents, expect you to give them their percentage even if you got the audition on your own. They eventually have to know so you avoid conflicts ($50k fine!).

Managers, regardless if they actually helped you or not, expect their 15% no matter what.

So either way, you're giving up 25% for every job you book as long as you have both an agent and manager.
