Recently, I have thought about changing agency. I'm with a decent agency that is not on Top agency list, but I do get sent out maybe 2 times a month...sometimes 3 times a month....not counting self-submissions.

Although, the agent is very nice and sweet I feel that maybe I can increase my audition rate if I try to get into a agency that has a better rep. Is that a wrong assumption?

Another problem is that this agency advertises a lot about their agency. Maybe that's a bad sign. What do you think?

How to e-mail submissions work? Sometimes I go on other agencies websites, and says that if we are interested to send all submissions to (e-mail address)... Are e-mail submissions more common now?

Maybe it has nothing to do with the agency. Maybe it's your headshots or resume. Do you get alot of auditions on your own? If so, then your headshots/resume are probably working.

It has been slow for alot of people on both coasts, so that may be part of it as well. Sometimes it is just slow, and has nothing to do with your agent.

The agent could be submitting you all the time, and you are not getting called in based on a number of factors, many of which are not based on what agent you are with. Headshots, resume, type, auditions are slow for everyone, etc.

I try to submit regularly, and I do get called in sometimes. Maybe like you said, it is slow so I don't usually see many breakdowns that fit me.

So being with a certain agency doesn't factor into being called in. Thanks for clearing that up.

Can anyone explain more about e-mail submissions?

Thank you amo37!

From what I've been hearing, it's slow for everyone.

How long have you been with them?

I've been with them since April. It was picking up mid-sep, but lately it has been slow. No auditions this week.

No auditions 'this week?'

Not all of my actor friends or myself get called in every week. And it is slow now. Especially for commericals. Many non-union commericals have taken the place of union comericals due to the economy.

Contrary to popular belief, many things are not within the agents power as I mentioned earlier. Type, headshots, training, resume are all factors.
Also, you could be with an A list agency and get lost in the shuffle, as that agency has so many actors you never get sent out for auditions.

Relax. Keep studying and building your resume and keep self submitting. Our jobs to get ourselves work doesn't stop once we obtain an agent. I know you already know that. If you like your agent and have a good relationship with them (as you should) you should be able to speak with them about your situation and concerns. I would do that before acting hastily and finding a new agent, which might not help.
