YES, it is worth mailing to these commercial agencies as non-union! Commercial Agents are the only kind of agents who are open to non-union talent. One is economic trends. There are now A LOT more non-union gigs than ever before so why not take advantage of that? Also, commercial agents know that commercials are the easiest way of Taft-hartley-ing actors.

Can anyone share any experience with Brass Artist Associates? Does anyone see them on the sign-in list often?

There's NO such thing as an open call audition for agencies in LA.

You either:
1. Mail in a headshot and resume with CONCISE coverletter and reel (if you have one).

2. Go to a showcase place like Reelpros, Network Studio, etc. and impress the agent who shows up.

3. Get a referral from a friend who is already with the agency that you're into.

A lot of people think that Daniel Hoff does open calls on Fridays, but they DON'T. You either need a referral or you mail in a headshot and resume and they call you in to do an on-camera interview.

How do you mail in a reel?
And how long should the coverletter be?

Thanks!

Just put the dvd in the envelope that you mail to them.

The coverletter should be short.
