Has anyone else worked with Carol Scarano? Her "management company" is half catering company but I met with her two years ago and the only thing she has ever called me in on has been bartending and waitressing jobs. And then every once in awhile someone will call me and ask for more headshots. I'm just curious if anyone has ever been called by her to go on an actual audition or if it is a scam for her to find people for her catering company?

She asks you for headshots because the catering customers want to see what her staff looks like, no? Maybe you should just ask her what exactly is she managing for you?

Helping Hands is the same as HH Talent and Entertainment, and there are a ton of threads on this board about her.

I can PM you about her if you'd like.

I just thought I'd give an update on this cuz it's kind of funny. Right after I posted this I got a call and went in for an audition with hh management (first one in over two years). It was for a 35 year old housewife character (I play 17-25 girl next door). The casting people even commented on how young I looked for the role when I went in. It was a little embarrassing. Anyway, long story short the agency is very nice whenever I call and they try to be helpful but I don't think I'll be basing my entire career on their help.

LOL...yeah, well I cut them off a looong time ago.A while back I had a conversation with one of the asst. bookers there concerning headshots. She stated that they were low on shots and to bring in more. However, she stated that they were not accepting B/W shots only "color". I played devil's advocate with her and asked well what if I only have B/W? Her reply was "If a casting director saw your B/W shot against someone with a colored headshot who do you think they would choose?" Needless to say I laughed. How crazy is that? If one has a B/W with credits from major feature films they are not going to pass you by because of a B/W headshot. She said, well, if the person who has a colored shot has the same caliber of credits most likely they will. H&H over the years have developed a sour reputation from what I heard. The office sends out a huge package with mostly everyone in thier stockcade and doesn't limit thier submissions with respect to the "breakdown" of the descriptions. So, when casting directors see that the huge package is from their office, I've heard that the package on most accounts is tossed. "MY" personal opinion, you can better serve yourself by self submitting through Actor's Access or go with another boutique agency or those meet and greets from those Actor's seminars to meet casting people up close and personal. I wouldn't waste anymore time with them. Head shots costs and I don't think we spend money taking them and reproducing them for catering gigs or to be tossed in the trash everytime they come through a casting office. Stay strong!

This doesn't sound right to me. A management company that caters on the side? Think about that for a second. It doesn't make any sense. I would be very, very cautious about these people.
