So, we secured representation (non exclusive) for my partner who is looking primarily for hosting work. He has been listed on their websites, etc. I am getting the feeling that until we bring a deal to the agent to negotiate she is not necessarily out there submitting for breakdowns, etc.

My question for SAM is, is it standard that with someone's first representation the agent sort of leaves them to find work before the agent starts pushing them? Also we have been with her for about 2 months with no prospects, could it be due to the time of year? I hear things slow down in the summer. Should we stick it out for a few more months and see if things pick up?

Thanks,

I don't know anything about hosting. I've seen hosting agents at the local agent bar. They usually sit in the corner and keep to themselves. Sometimes I throw stuff at them.

But that said, all agents work the same way. So to answer your question, agents do not wait for the client to find work before they start pitching the client. That's insane. We're all about the commission. Agents start working for new clients from day one.
