"When things pick up later this summer"? Are you kidding? Where are you getting your information? It's extremely busy. There's a ton of television work right now! Studio films are close to dead but that's the least of your worries if you don't even have an agent. Submitting is the not the best way to find representation. The majority of our clients - I'd say 80% - come to our attention by referrals. Referrals are the golden ticket in this town. The rest of our clients come from submissions, plays, comedy shows, etc. There's nothing wrong with doing an agent showcase but you might benefit more from showcasing for casting associates and assistants. They can help you build up your resume and that in turn will help you attract an agent. And when the time is right, they can also refer you to someone like me. Good luck!
