Did anyone go to the Product Model Management open call about a week and a half ago? We didn't hear anything - just wanted to know if anyone out there did?

No, we didn't go. I have a dd and I had heard that they were really looking for boys- ages 8 to 10. What was it like? did a lot of people show up?

I called and couldn't make it so I checked out the web and submitted the photographs. I haven't heard anything yet. Either.

Thanks Everyone!
It was basically a sales pitch for the company - they were very nice but I was in a crowded room with a lot of infants. It was an hour long and they opened up for questions at the end. They also wanted to make sure that at least one parent doesn't work.

I didn't realize Product was doing an open call. BTW - They are a very reputable agency. What you described is pretty typical of the child modeling biz. It's not super glamorous, even for kids who book often. Many modeling agencies that rep kids have open calls every month, including Ford and Wilhemina. You can wait in line for hours to finally have your child seen for less than 10 seconds. There are always lots of very young kids at those calls too, and most of the parents who show up know very little about the reality of having a working child model.

We are with Product. We just sent photo's in. You can even send them throught their website now. Kipmil is right, its alot of work. I happen to have an 8 yr old boy. They seem to be in demand. My 11 year old daughter rarely gets called.

Hey Everyone,

I read something here about an open call. Does anyone know if PRODUCT does a lot of these? From my understanding, many have told us that they don't really do those and just schedule by appointment or scout through conventions.

I went to a "group appointment" yesterday, it was more like a therapy session, but it was a lot of fun.

If you or someone you know is with this agency, please tell me about your experience. I'm trying to do my research before signing.

All of the agenices at one time or another do open calls. Willy does them often. Generation did one last Saturday, and now Product. It gives them the opportunity of seeing a great deal of people at one time, and the moms/dads an opportunity of being at a "cattle call"- which is one of the least glam parts of he biz. Once you are with an agent, requests, and direct bookings are a pleasure after experincing a few of the CC's.. As far as Product, Newmodelmom, Natasha is great and they are one of the top print agencies. If you choose Product you will not be disappointed.

Product has done only 1 open call. They do the group appointments pretty regularly, I've been told. Ford and Willy have monthly open calls. Don't know how often Gen does them.

The Product open call sounds alot different than the open call for Willy and Ford. I have been to the Willy. Long long line and then when you get in.... its 1 second and I'm not kidding with the child. They may ask questions to the child. Then you move on. My dd got a call back, the 2nd time we went in. However, it stopped there. I never brought my son to an open call. I submitted on line and mail. He is with Product and we love it!
I know a few who have beeen to Fords open calls, very similiar to Willy Kids!!!! I just think its who they need at the time. Keep submitting and good luck. Many good agencies out there!

Does product realize you live in CA? If they did, they would not have invited you to meet with them. Do NOT fly to NY to meet with a print agent. It is NOT worth it to fly out for this call. There are a number of great agencies in LA that specialize in babies. Contact a baby manager. Here are three, in alphabetical order that are considered very reputable.
