My new challenge is trying to find a manager. This seems even more daunting then the agency search. Suggestions strongly encouraged.

Not represented, yet. How should I begin the manger search????

Names, sites, experiences, books, all strongly welcomed Wink

It's subjective in that literally ANYONE can be a manager. Your best friend's mom could be your manager or your dad can be one and take 15% from you.

Managers are so under regulated that it's difficult to tell whether or not they're legit like it is with an agent.

Here's my ideal belief in choosing a manager (I know such managers DO exist somewhere out there):
-NO more than 25 clients
-Doesn't make me pay anything upfront
-Doesn't take more than 15%
-Has to have some clout with some of the major Agents and Casting Directors and with a simple phone call, can set up a meeting.

These may sound ideal, but these are the kind of things GOOD managers should be doing.

Finding a good manager is a lot tougher than finding a good agent. It takes much more research. You need to keep your eyes and ears open. Read the trades on-line and start getting a sense of who's out there. Look up their companies on IMDB Pro. And ask around for opionions - from teachers, casting assistants, other actors, etc.

You should also read "An Agent Tells All". They should have it at Samuel French. It has an excellent chapter on managers.

thanks so much for the info, I'll check out "An Agent Tells All"

When submitting to Managers, is it the same deal as agent submissions? Headshot, cover letter, resume?

Or can you include things like good reviews you've received from critics on previous work, additional photo's i.e commercial look and theatrical?

You're selling yourself so yes, include anything you think might help.
