Hi I moved here from Chicago about two months ago and is currently looking for representation. Since I don't have my Sag card yet I've only met with commercial agencies. SO far I've met with:
Dale Garrick Pacific west artists Dedicated DPM Talent Agency Brass Artists and associates Daniel Hoff
I auditioned for Daniel Hoff and am waiting for a reply( I guess I have to wait two weeks..)
The other agencies say they were interested in representing me commercially (besides Pacific west..which wanted me theatrically for some reason)
Should I join now or wait for better agencies (I'm not saying these agencies aren't good don't get me wrong because I don't have any experience with them, but my commercial teacher said that I can't just go with "ANY" agent...I need to find a "GREAT" agent.
What I was hoping was to land a commercial and get SAG and then find a theatrical agent.either in another agency or sign across the board..and I heard Daniel Hoff was good theatrically also.
Not sure if this info matters but my age range is "15-20" (according to...agents and casting directors and managers I've talked to)
There were posts I've read in this site stating which commercial agents are good and bad....but I guess what my main question was.....would it be wise to wait for a better agent....or go with what I've met with..
Any advice and help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
Its your choice in waiting or not. Daniel hoff is a great agency. But if you feel like you can find an even better one then try sending in your headshots to the top commercial agents.
You can try KSR, Abrams, CESD, Diverse, Commercial talent.
Ya i submitted to those agencies........I think I need to take a commercial/coldreading/improv before they want to take me..........or maybe my headshot sucks...ahha.....it not really a commercial headshot because I'm not smiling and its not a bright picture.....I wonder if it affects their decision.......and I have facial hair in this picture which kinda makes me look older in the picture than in real life...
Awesome thanks for the advice....I'm going to take Mike Pointers commercial class; starts this Saturday.........and once my hairs grows back out I'm going to get some headshots taken and I've been looking into David Noles' work....I like it.
Of those agencies you've met with, the only three worth it are:
DPM Talent Agency Brass Artists and associates Daniel Hoff
Daniel Hoff is the only agency with in your list that is good theatrically, but of course they have pretty high standards.
I know people who are with Dale Garrick and complain that they almost never get sent out.
I've never even heard of Pacific West.
Dedicated...there's enough info on these boards.
I don't think it's a very good headshot. You're look like one of Sylar's victims from Heroes (The top part of your head is chopped off in case you don't watch the show.) Also, you need to wear brighter colors and show teeth. What's with that zipper shoulder shirt? It's too trendy/metro/gay to be mainstream.

nice thanks for the advice I'm going to buy some bright colored clothing and retake my theatrical and commercial headshots.......by the way I know commercial requires bright colored shirts......but can I wear bright colored shirts for theatrical or does it require darker colored shirts.

Theatrical is more serious and muted colors. However, I do sometimes use my commercial shots for theatrical submissions. Commercials can go both ways, especially if you're going for something more lively, college/high school, or the nice guy.
