I recently had an interview with a commercial agent. During my commercial copy read, she was giving me direction and had me do it 3 times. Is this good or bad? I know at some agent interviews, you read it once and that is all. I also know that sometimes at a commercial callback if the director gives you a lot of direction and spends a lot of time with you, that is usually a good thing, but what about at an agent interview. Is them giving you direction and having you do it 2 or 3 times a good thing?

Yes, definitely. It shows that the agent saw something in you that piqued her interest. That having been said, don't worry too much about this (or any audition). Rethinking it will only make you crazy. Take the time she spent directing you as a compliment and keep submitting!

Thanks Jackie! Since she is a freelancing commercial agent, she did tell me to call my manager and have her set up appointments at the agencies that she regularly works with. Is it acceptable to call my manager and ask her to do this? Also, can a manager just call the agencies she works with and set up appointments for her clients?

I have an interesting question. Do you find it to work out in your favor when a commercial agent doesn't ask you to do commercial copy during the interview? I know that sometimes they just want to get a feeling for you, there are even some auditions like this, those interview type auditions. I think that this may really work out in your favor if you have an amazing personality during the interview/audition, espcially if you have a rusty read. What do you all think?

Yes, you should tell your manager what the CD said about the agents. Then of course you will need to see how he or she reacts. Some managers are adverse to working with agents, but most are happy to do so. The manager--with the CDs approval to use her name--may have a good shot at getting you seen at some agencies. Hopefully the CD will be willing to speak directly to your manager about which agents she is suggesting.

gapfm121--I suggest you post your interesting question at the top of a new thread so more people see it.
