From what I've researched so far it seems that print work and music videos are non-union, but then there are several models like Eva Pigford and Rebecca Romijn who act in TV and movies (so I know they are union members) yet still do print work and appear in music videos.

So does that mean there is a good amount of such work that is SAG? I was planning to postpone joining the unions for as long as possible to capitalize on print jobs, but if there is a lot of union jobs out there then I can join earlier.

Rita did a print job that was paid with a SAG BG voucher.

She is on hack license in movie
The Out of Towners

But that is very unusual. Sometimes you get get your picture in a frame on a wall in a movie too and be paid.

Print work, unless tied in with a union t.v./film/commercial project, is not under union jurisdiction.

As for the union members appearing in music videos, that's gotta be negotiated with the unions and reps. For a lot of money, I might add, for those celebrities.

What about high fashion designer or boutique ads that exclusively do print and don't do commercials? Do they go through a similar process of negotiating with the unions & reps of actors they want? If so then I guess technically there is very minimal SAG print work out there.

I've always wondered if professional models have their own union, especially when some are pulling in millions and don't do anything else but model.

Oops. Can't edit my post. Can't speak from experience (and wish I could!), but I would think the print job part is not covered by the union, that only the part of the job involving the moving pictures would be under union jurisdiction.

There's no modeling union. As far as I know, when a print job is negotiated, it's negotiated with session and usage fees, sometimes with options to renew.
