I currently freelance with an agent who I'm grateful to. He only does freelance. I get sent out once a year. Suprisingly, I got sent 4 times this year. I was never serious about making a living out of acting until now.

He says he's been submitting me to a particular show. But, I've never been called. I'm thinking I'm not that marketable. Am I? What can I do?

How do I get to the more higher tier agents? I do need to build a reel again. Any tips would help.

Below is my experience.

You get higher tier agents when you start generating income. That's sort of the way it works in this business. No one really pays attention until you start making money. But by then you probably don't need them. Heh - always the way it works.

It's not that you're not marketable. If you're a good actor, believe me, there's a lot of people out there who will want to hire you - cause a good actor is a rare thing. I recommend you don't solely rely on your agent to send you out. Look for auditions yourself.

Man! I've always said it's about money in the business. Agents always want the money. It definitely puts things into perspective! I feel like I have a direction I can go by. Thanks! It makes sense.

I'll start pounding the doors with paying roles.

I've never looked at it that way "until I start making money." I'll have to think of ways to get into paying gigs. I'll get on that. I've always said to myself that if I'm good people will find me.

Much appreciated Jon. Light bulb has definitely been turned on. Great business advice!

I'll focus on being a great actor also.
