Back in the July 17 issue of Backstage West on pg 18 I was in the featured article "Who Got The Part" regarding a lot of work I'd booked (by myself I might add!!).

I've been busy all year with a variety of Projects....Sit and Sleep Infomercial, ESPN-NFL Monday Night Football commercial, 2 Pilots, A Video Game total scan for "Mad Scientist" type(VO Next Spring for that one), ABC webseries, several leads/featured roles in movies and lots of stage shows/tours. ( I just finished the Pirates of Penzance as the Major General)

Not a single job came from my agent who sent me out on 2 auditions all year...but kept harping on "Get New Pictures"...Now in regards to that a top photographer here on the BB saw my pics and wondered "Why would I have to change if it's working".

Are agents kinda looking for the quick and easy...change pics and maybe it'll make their job easier??? The pics seem to be working for me, cause I'm booking all of my work.

So, recnetly she released me and now I'm back in the hunt for a new agent...

oooooo NOW WHAT?? Should I just keep doing what I'm doing....since it seems to work better than the agents I hear about and almost worked with!

Don Quixote,

Always Jousting at Casting Windmills

Isn't it true that the only time in your life that you ever really benefited from anything is when you said YES instead of NO?

Let me preface this by saying you're not going to like my answer.

You should always be looking to move up the food chain. I'm glad you booked a lot of work on your own but quite frankly, none of those bookings are going to advance your career as a mainstream actor. No film or television cd is going to care that you did a tour of one of the most old fashioned musicals ever written and let's be honest - you didn't really book two pilots since that's contractually impossible, especially for a non name. They probably weren't real pilots with studios, networks, licensing fees, and a test option agreement. They were just independent projects that the makers were calling "pilots".

I'm not trying to knock your accomplishments but I'm assuming that you'd rather be doing guest star work on network shows earning residuals for the next decade, and testing on and booking real pilots that have a chance of getting on the air - like all the working actors on my list.

So the answer is yes - of course you need an agent. You just need to find one that's better than your last one.
