C'mon, people - let's get real. Agents don't solicit actors through websites. That's very suspicious behavior. No agent I know would do such a thing. I would proceed with extreme caution.

Not quite true Secret Agent Man- On the LAcasting.com website agents can view all non-represented talent in a section called "Talent Scout". If an agent sees a non-repped talent they like they are able to contact them via email to set up an interview. or so I'm told

Note to KidfromCali: That might be true but it's still not typical behavior for an experienced agent. Trust me - it's not that hard to find actors in LA. I would be hesitant about working with someone who has to find talent in this manner. (If I did this, the other agents in my office would throw stuff at me.)

quote: Originally posted by ohyeah: Well, I signed with them at the end of May and they only sent me out on 1 audition for an internet webisode. I ended up submitting myself on Lacasting.com and booked my own short industrail type film..where I got paid. I had to give them 15% and they didn't even help me get the job. I think they are not very good.. considering I have not gotten any decent auditions. I would like to find a different agent, but I signed a contract that said if in 4 months they dont offer me employment (audition) then I am signed for 1 year. So technically they offered me employment by getting me the webisode audition...but that sucks. Should I try to get out of it? Who else has experience with them?
yeah I should I go about severing the ties with this agency? I want out too To wishfulthinking I wish you the best of luck in getting a good agent!

Why the big secret? Your agent needs to know your REAL age. Period. How is an agent suppose to market you effectively in this industry if he/she must guess what age category to submit you in. I know a 43 year old actress who refuses to tell her agent her real age. Like you, she gave him an age range to work with (her profile on LA Casting lists her age range as "25-35"). She's a terrific actor who goes out on auditions on a regular basis, gets a callback only sparingly, and has never booked. I've never seen this women audition before, but I can tell you EXACTLY what the problems is.
