Hello! I have a few agents I freelance with commercially. What kind of things would be appropriate to put in a postcard update to them and how often should I send one?

Since I only freelance with them commercially, should I only include updates relative to the commercial world? Or if I get cast in a decent off-off bway show can I include that? Should I include commercial work I recently booked/shot (though it was obtained through a diff agent)?

Finally, I did a mass mailing 3 months ago. Should I send follow up postcards to those folks that never contacted me and give them an update?

Mailing ettiquette. Sheesh. I'm so new to all this and I appreciate your help!

For the agents that you're already with, just call them on their voicemail or shoot them an email. Save your post cards and stamp money. So they know that you exist, let them know about everything that's relevant to your acting career in general at least once a month. "This month, I'll be taking a commercial class, and improv class, and will be appearing in this play..."

Doesn't hurt to send postcards to those agents who never contacted you. But after three months, they've either thrown away your envelope or headshot or they've never opened it yet.

It's a little weird to send a post card to your own agent but I don't see anything wrong with it. As for what you should include, I would definitely say yes about booking a play - but make sure you follow up by phone or email to invite them to the actual show.

As for letting one commercial agent know about a job you booked with another commercial agent, I'm not so sure about that. Actors don't freelance in L.A. so I can't give you a decent answer. Are there any NY actors on the board who can lend a hand?
