I was offered a contract from Talent One in Raleigh, NC which is mentioned in Judy Kerry - Acting is everything however, it's for a 2 year contract which means even if I moved to LA (which i'm doing in 6 months) I couldn't get another agent.
I was told that I could amend the contract to only include east coast but shouldn't I wait to get to LA to get an agent out there that might better represent me. Am I wrong in being fearful of a 2 year contract when my intentions are to move to the west coast in such a short time?

Bez, you never know what the future will bring. If you can amend the contract to the south/east Coast and you have no requirement to attend East Coast auditions, why not try to get work for the next six months. Do they know you are moving? Your plans may fall thru and then you will have nothing. Make sure the contract says that you are free to move and get a west coast agent. If they are good, I'd strike while the iron is hot.

Your dad is sooo right. I would love to sit down and just talk to him....what you can do is stress your 60 day clause...which standard in every contract. It means that if your signed agency performs less than you wanted you can automatically walk the hell away with not ties.

Thanks guys. Currently I've decided against joining. Plans have been made over a year ago to make this move in august. Nothing could possibly stop it short of the hand from above. Always a possibility, but I can't imagine anything happening that would prevent this move and I have one hell of an imagination.
My father, although an amazing man, didn't actually say that. It's a quote from Joe vs. the Volcano. Also, one of my favorite quotes of all time.
