So I auditioned for a very high profile movie almost a week ago and I still haven't received any word from the casting directors. This is my first time auditioning for a major production so I was wondering how long one usually has to wait to hear back from casting directors? If they don't want you back at all will they at least e-mail you to tell you that you didn't get the job? Thanks guys!

They usually don't tell you if you didn't get the job/callback. It depends on the project. What did the call say when they were going to have callbacks (if any)? You have to try to get your mind off of it. You'll drive yourself bananas.

You never "wait". You go about your business and if they call you back in, great. If not, life goes on. NEVER dwell on it. It might take 300 auditions or more to get something. Don't waste energy on things that are not very likely. Not impossible, just that the odds are against all of us so we go about our lives and stay positive. NEVER dwell. EVER.

When auditioning for "high profile" FFs it is highly unlikely that the CDs will contact you/your agent if you are not moving forward in the casting process. It is also unlikely that you would be given any information on the callback process, including dates. If they are interested, they will get in touch with you. As miss stone said, never wait. It's a good idea to get into the habit of forgetting about the audition as soon as you leave the casting office or you run the risk of driving yourself crazy.

If it's episodic television, expect call backs within a day or two.
Feature films, give it a week.
CD's want to move the casting selection right along. If you're in serious contention, keeping you in the dark for extended periods of time serves no productive purpose for you, or them. The more interested they are, the more motivated they'll be in contacting you or your reps in a timely fashion.
BTW, CD's never contact you if they're not interested in using you. They simply don't have the time.
And you'll get no argument on this board... every actor needs to cultivate the need to walk out of a casting director's office with ZERO expectations. This is the only thing that will keep you sane in this business.
