Roz, I'm re-listening to the episode where you addressed an actress dressing in scrubs for a nurse audition.
I auditioned a few weeks ago (in NY) to be a nurse in industrial. Since "Wardrobe: nurse" was in the casting notice I received, I went out and bought $10 scrubs, figuring that this wouldn't be the last nurse audition I'd attend. I get to the audition, and I'm the ONLY one in scrubs. Whatever. I go in, one of the casting people thanks me for wearing scrubs, and I respond that I'm just following my manager's instructions and to thank him. And I think, great. Positive feedback = no booking.
The scrubs probably helped to book me. They were also used for the shoot. And I will always question whether it was just the wardrobe.

There is so much that's out of your control in an audition that you should look at this as a truly positive experience and put a positive spin on your decision. We leave auditions questioning but have no way of knowing what was really going to affect their decision. Were you an inch taller than the actor they settled on that morning? Did they decide to go with blue eyes instead of green? Did the actress who read before you start them thinking they might like a little bit of an Islands lilt? Did you remind the CD of his ex-wife?
It's been said on these boards again and again that it never pays to question yourself, there's just too much out of your control. Make some notes for next time? Sure. Beat yourself up... why bother?
...And if you BOOKED the job? It wasn't the clothes, Transfergirl, it was all you. It may well have been the fact that you followed instructions. Maybe your manager added that for you and it wasn't their requirement. Unless you renew your membership in the Psychic Friends Network, you'll never know what really did it, and who cares? Go pay some bills, buy yourself an ice cream cone, and walk a little taller because you booked the gig. Congratulations!
Best regards, Joe
