I'm very interested in taking a Meisner class.

Does anyone know of good classes or teachers OTHER than Esper studio that are well regarded in NY?

...preferably a class where you can drop in or one that has a short summer option(1-2 month).

When I studied with Phil Gushee there, Joe Anania effectively co-taught with him, and was always warm and helpful. Now he has his own studio:

Anania Studio

I have the impression Phil himself isn't teaching just now. But I could be wrong.

My son studied with Rachael Jones and noticed a remarkable improvement in scene study.

One of my students has been studying with Louise Lasser at HB Studios and says her Meisner-based class is phenomenal! Worth checking into too...

Phil and Joe were great. Phil isn't teaching any longer. He passed away at least 10 years ago.

Joe is a great teacher and knows the technique well.

I'd check to see if Richard Pinter is still around and Ron Stetson. They taught private classes aside from the Playhouse.

I LOVE Louise's class! She's amazing and actually studied with Sandy. I took my first semester with her and am taking a second.

She is so good at seeing to the core of a person and really getting the best work out of them. It's been amazing seeing all of the breakthroughs in my class...and rates are SUPER REASONABLE...

I really feel like I've been able to start embracing that thing in my work that makes me...well...me! Smiler

Her beginning class is Sundays from 12-3pm, but she tends to go a lot longer because she loves what she does so much. You can always audit classes at HB...I think you may still be able to join the class for the fall semester. It's only in its second week...

She really is a genius...I've learned SO MUCH!

Louise is a lovely person but unfortunately nuts.

I studied with her for 2 semesters. She doesn't

have a clue about how to teach the Meisner

technique . I'm in a theater company with many

members who are Esper alumni. They're very well trained. If you have the

time and money to be able to do Esper run

don't walk there.Louise's class is a cult of

personality. She's full fo secrets and

teachers favorites and a truly bizarre sense

of what's right and wrong that she projects

onto the whole class. Bottom line: If you want a lab

for neurosis check out Louise's class. Want

to learn Meisner do a search on this site and

check out some other classes.
