My question is, is there a better time to take a class? I'd like to create my itinerary around casting times and study with a group of serious actors.

Example. 1. here in Miami, Castings usually run from 10am to about 4pm, callbacks are different. I can get a callback time at 5pm. But I'm wondering if in NY is the same.

And 2. I dont want to end up with a group of students who are there just for the experience. I want a professional teacher as well as a group of serious actors. And, I’m wondering if usually working actors take a night, afternoon or morning class.

I will appreciate any information.

Thanks Smiler

There are plenty of evening classes. You just have to shop around to find what suits you best.

Castings, callbacks included, generally happen anytime during business hours (9-6). Casting offices are different here (at least from what Miami experience I had a few years ago- things may have changed), in that there are multiple castings at each casting office, as opposed to one casting, say, at Ellen Jacoby's, since there are often several CD's working at each office.

Good luck!

Yep! I guess they have.

They usually all have 2 different castings going on at the same time.

I agree with Transfergirl. Shop around, ask around re: classes. Some night classes have working actors, some day classes do. Mostly castings go from 10-6 here. Hope that helps!

Thanks Darbi,

I was hoping to get yours or Roz's input.
Yes, that helps.
And perhaps, I should send you a private, asking you about the class I chose.

Thanks,
Whiterose

whiterose, you can certainly PM me, but I only have experience with a few schools and Backstage likes us to be agnostic on this topic. Smiler
