Is this a good move for an African Female who is breaking into the business at the age of 31, or should i rethink this advice given to me by professional photographers.

Why not just wear your hair like you wear it everyday for your headshots? I don't know why someone would tell you to wear your hair in braids unless that is your "trademark" hairstyle.
Your headshots should look like YOU.

Thank you for the advice. However i wasnt totally clear with the question i asked. I was advised to wear my hair in braids because this is my look for the past ten to eleven years. I've gone out and spent lots of money to get a weave because i thought this would be more appealing and more marketable for this type of business. Therefore do i sustain my less expensive, low maintained, "ME" look as the professional photgrapher said to do or do i swicth over to the weave. I have thought long and hard after my meeting with the photographer and I'm still on the fence about this situation. Will this limit the roles i can play, will this create a bias. Can i only be kanakotema from the projects... I understand as a new actress i have a long way to go however i would like to market myself the correct way from the start. Again thanks for the advice....

this is a tough one, especially not knowing what you look like. but i say "do you". you will find that through the course of your journey, you will change things up. you will see what works and what doesnt. i look different now than when i started, and lots had to do with experience, seeing who is booking, playing up what i have to offer. a lot factors. its a journey.

It's impossible to tell from your description, and without seeing you, whether your hairstyle will help or hurt you. But, your hair is an expression of who you are -- and usually, that is a good thing.
If you feel comfortable with the style you have, go for it. The important thing is to get shots that show you as you will look when you walk in the room, with an open and available expression.
thank you for the advice. I have taken my photos some time ago and found a photographer who understood my thoughts. He took photos in both stlyes which i thought was a great idea. i am in the process of choosing photos. i hope i can get some advice in regards to which to choose... i will post next week.. will like your feedback... thanks alot for all the advice.
