I'm listening to the podcast about the young man who asked all those questions about how to start out. Well, I appreciate all the answers, but one thing ya'll (yes, I'm from Texas) talked about was getting in education in other things besides theatre. Well, I will be auditioning next year for my school's BFA acting program, and the professors want us to major only in Theatre when we audition. I'm thinking about getting a double major after I audition and (hopefully) get in. Is this what you meant? I'd really like to do this just so, like Roz said, not just be able to talk about theatre and that's it.

Thanks for the comment first of all.

You are right of course. I think a double major is hella cool. I wish I had done it. I question a program that doesn't support you being as smart as you can be. How could that hurt you?

As an old gal. One of the only regrets I have is not taking more advantage of my years in college and grad school. I would have loved to take a simple photography class or more literature. I would have had to get special permission at Yale Drama to do such a thing. But I should have tried a least. We pay a lot for our education! We should be able to take as much as we can handle successfully. Once you get out of school those opportunities are very rare, to study something with wonderful professors and all the support of the library and equipment that a university offers.

Good luck. thanks again for writing in.

Yep, I agree with Roz. A double major is a great idea.

If you are a musical theatre major many colleges consider that a double major already so you won't be able to triple major unless you're willing to work extra, extra, extra hard and stay 5 years. Even then some schools don't allow it.
