Hi Guys,
I'm looking for someone to pair up with durring open mics. I'm a singer, can play alittle but don't concider myself good enough to play for myself. I do jazz, blues, R&B, pop, musical theatre. This would be focusing on contemporary.

I'm trying to find someone who is a great piano/keyboard player to team up with. Mainly I would be doing contemporary--several various covers with my own spin.
Some former ones include:
-Fields of Gold (Sting)
-Beautiful (Carol King)
-Angel from Montgomery (John Prine/Bonnie Raitt)
-Wild Horses (Rolling Stones)
-Killing Me Softly With His Song (Roberta Flack)
-Trouble in Mind (Janis Joplin)
-With or Without You (U2)
-Life is a Highway (Tom Cochrane)

Looking for someone who is capable of reading leadsheets. Someone who can play pretty well by ear too/or at least pick stuff out.

I use to play with someone back in Philly who was fantastic at adding layers(musicly) to the simplicity of cords as well as creating instromentals/changing up rythmic patterns.

Pay:Performing for the shear love of it! But could lead to future stuff--never know.

open mics: 1 a week, for now

Former open mics:
Milkboy Coffee---Ardmore, PA
The Prince Music Theatre's "Open Stage @ the Prince"(for 2 yrs.)--Philadelphia,PA

Shows
The Hinge Cafe---Philadelpia, PA (3 shows, in-the-round style for each)
Cheltanham Arts Center--Cheltanham, PA

If interested post below or PM me. Hope to hear from you soon!!! Smiler

Or if anyone knows of anyone who might be interest, let me know. Thanks!

take care,
Grace

Hey Everyone,

This is a continuation of the above post regarding pay. PAY: All paying gigs we will split evenly.

I would really love to make this project happen. There has to be someone out there who is just as passionate and as much in love with playing the keys as I am a/b singing contemporary. This would be alot of fun, great performance oppertunities and the beginings of something wonderful!

If anyone knows of a jazz pianist/keyboard teacher in NYC, could you let me know. I'm trying to better my own skills as well. Thanks millions!!!
talk to you soon,
Grace

Grace - you might want to call some of the music theatre conservatories and studios in the City - many of the on-staff pianist gig alot...check at NYU Tisch CAP21; Merrymount; also check the boards at Shetler Studios, Champions Studios, BMI...lots of possibilities!
