I am looking for work in NY right now. Where could you find such a cheap places there? When I looked 2-bedroom was more than 2K a months.

Hi Learner, As far as Manhattan goes it's best to either find a sublet, or 1 br./2br. flex, if you want a 2 br. Up in Harlem/East Harlem and parts of Morningside are afforadable, but then you just have the area to deal with. Otherwise look in Brookyln. It's kind of a hit or miss, you have to really look around. I've been subletting a 1br. in a 2br. apt. in the hells kitchen area for the past several months and the rents not cheap(1400 per month), but the area is fantastic. So its kind of a tose up, good area high rent, not so good area low rent. Hope this helps. Good luck  -Grace

Oh, my - how do you commute to the Manhattan from Brooklyn? I spend one week in NY in summer - stayed with my mom in Queens. It's only 30 min drive from her place to Manhattan. I always stayed with her overnight on weekend but did not realize that during week it's 2 hours to and 2 hours from. I was so exhausted by the end of week...
