Me first.

My first film is on BET J this week. The show is called THE BEST SHORT FILMS. My film is called DRIVING FISH. It's not the best but it's mine and I love it.

THere's a cool interview with me after the film...Watch it if you can. BET J

Congrats! You might want to post in that forum too!

Oh, and while we're at it: I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and, doggonit, people like me!

I have to help my darling partner. She's not as accustomed to publicity-whoring as I am. Let me offer some assistance.

So that you all know EXACTLY when and where you can see her work, check this blip from BET J's Program Guide for the week of April 30:

The Best Shorts:
“The Best Shorts” provides viewers with the best in drama, comedy, horror, suspense and more. Short films continue to be the purest form of filmmaking as experienced and inexperienced filmmakers find unique ways to express their vision. This showcase offers a unique opportunity to catch the best and brightest emerging filmmakers. This week features the films “Beauty Marks”, “Driving Fish”, “Stone Mansion” & “The Missing Pieces”. The program premiers Sunday at 8pm, with a re-air Tuesday at 11am, 9pm, Thursday at 11am, 12am.

I am reading this to mean that Roz's film will premiere on Sunday, May 6 at 8 and re-air from there. BET J is channel 89 on my cable box (Time Warner-West Village). I have my TIVO at the ready!

Congratulations, Roz. We're proud of you.

Now me! My stuff is not nearly as cool, but here goes....

You can hear my voice on radio spots for Ortho (I talk about the sound of a five-year old screaming at the sight of a bug) and Charlie Brown's Steakhouse (bunch of spots about, uh, steak) and a tv for Vusion (my voice over a bunch of first screaming, then giggling babies as I solve all their diaper rash problems). You can also hear me as the narrator on Music Choice's Demanded Top Ten Countdown. I'm on episode 2 & 3 for sure. Hoping that it will be a long-term gig. My agent is on the phone with them as we speak trying to negotiate a contract. Please send good vibes.

Soooo, what about you guys!?!? I want to start putting some faces and voices with your screen names! Love, D.

I'm on page 2 of the print edition of Backstage this week. In "Actors on the Street"....regarding being a starving actor. If you want a laugh, check it out!

I keep forgetting to talk about this, but the show that I work on regularly, House Smarts, recently got picked up by NBC 4 here in NYC. Check us out at 11:30 every Friday morning (tivos!). It's a show about home improvement. I'm not on every week, but you'll see me there at least every month or so, interviewing people about home improvement projects and sometimes doing stand-ups about money, home repairs, etc.

Thanks, PB, my agent thought it was a hoot and then she asked, "So, how long until you CAN fit into a size 2?...No, seriously, how long?" Eeker

Just kidding! She's the best!

Thanks, Roz!

I am barely 5 feet tall and I have struggled with my weight since my freshman year of college when I was 95 lbs and got up to 155 by Thanksgiving Break!

I had two other major weight gains over the years, when my grandmother passed away, I got up around 140 and after 9/11 up to 160. Now that's not much in the grand scheme of things, but again, I'm barely 5 feet tall. I've always worn my weight fairly well, so I'm told... (Whatever that means!)

I was very happy when I met with my agent a few weeks ago and she said I looked a lot smaller now and needed new headshots, because of my weight loss and toning.

Don't misunderstand me, I'm not a hard body and I won't be doing nude scenes anytime soon! I still have weight to loose....Any CDs out there who want to cast me in a size 2 role so I can reach my goal weight????? Big Grin

Here's the good news!

I got a part on New Amesterdam. It's a new Fox show shooting here in NY. I will be on episode 7. After Kidnapped I don't know if I should tell people but I am so happy about it. I shoot on the 15th. I just have one scene but it's a good one. I also have the potential of coming back I think because from what I could tell from the sides it seems like my son is related to the main characters. I am not sure of course because I have only read my sides. Can't wait to read the whole script.

Keep fingers and toes crossed that everything goes right with this job.

In the meantime I am doing a AEA showcase directed by famous casting driector Billy Hopkins. The guy is big time if you IMDB him. It's just a little one act. His daughter is in too. Funny right? My agent suggest I do it so I am.

The only other thing going on with me is my serious HUMP durinng the day teaching teens at NYFA. Boy it's challenging. Thank God it only lasts three weeks.

I am so happy about New Amersterdam. You guys have to understand I have SOooo few auditions. I think it's one of 5 legit audtions I have had all summer. I don't know. Maybe less maybe more. I am juat happy. So I am sharing it. The commercial activity has picked up though.

Okay. That's it. I will keep y'all posted.

Holla!

Roz, I don't know how I missed this about the showcase, but that is GREAT news! Congrats!

And I have some good news and an invitation for you all. I'm going to be appearing in Lizz Winstead's "Shoot the Messenger" THIS Monday, August 13 at Ace of Clubs (below Acme). 9 Great Jones, between Bway and Lafayette. At this point, I'm only booked for one week, but I'm really hoping to get to come back, so I need some laughing butts in seats! Please come if you can and introduce yourself.

You can buy tix here; only $10! http://www.ticketweb.com/t3/sale/SaleEventDetail?dispat...nData&eventId=198801

Here's the skinny on the show:

Shoot the Messenger is a satirical wrap-up of the week’s news from the brain of Daily Show co-creator Lizz Winstead. A live sketch-comedy show incorporating multi-media elements, it gives you the world as seen through the filters of the fictional producers and on-air talent at “24/7” – the worst twenty-four hour cable news network that fiction has to offer.
There will be indictment, both hilarious and scathing - not only of the newsmakers, but of the news media that molds them. Shoot The Messenger will give the audience a glimpse into the behind the scenes decision making at a news network, and the process that brings those decisions to the air.

Of course not everyone in the media gets a flogging; those who are doing great work will be celebrated. Each week Lizz’ll interview a media figure who digs deep and gets it right. They’ll give us the lowdown on the big stories that were buried (or ignored) by our pals of the corporate run media.

The writers, actors and producers of Shoot The Messenger come from Air America Radio, The Daily Show, and Drink At Work. They represent some of the best political comics and writers working today.
