(keep in mind I know NOTHING about the comic or video game world)
At the ActiVision booth they're holding a voice casting in a voiceover booth for some video game. The woman handing out releases said there were four lines to read, and the audition was reading one of the four lines. The release said that no compensation would be offered for the usage of voice or physical likeness, and was for unlimited usage pretty much wherever the hell they wanted to use it, be it the video game, commercials, other products, etc. By signing you also swear that you are not a member of AFTRA or SAG (clearly!)
On top of that, I asked how the recording would take place- at another session TBD? Oh, no. The voice would be lifted from these so-called "auditions".
Needless to say, I walked. Come ON! The video game industry makes how many billions of dollars yearly, and they're too cheap to use professional actors so they use an "audition" as a gimmick to promote it?
Brilliant on ActiVision's part, I must say.
P.s. I realize that this is more suited for "Everything NOT Acting..."

I accidently went with my family after an audition and had a lot of fun. I was trained as a comic book illustrator (its my God given talent and was supposed to me my first career choice until the acting bug bit me) so it was exciting to see my hero artist like Jim Lee and Rob Liefield.
I saw that dumb voice over audition. I think it was for a Spider-Man video game. Once the girl told me, I kept on walking.
I wanted to see the girl who host ATTACK OF THE SHOW for G4. Damn.
