Hi everyone! :-D I'm new to the forum & was wondering if you could please help me.
I'm from the UK & am directing a play called "Chatroom" by Enda Walsh early next year.
For those of you who don't know the play, it was on at the London National Theatre in 2005 & to quote their summary: "In cyberspace six 15-year-olds type and chat. A chilling and powerful tale of manipulation and the ultimate act of teenage rebellion."
In the play, you have 6 actors (mine are all approximately 18 years old) sitting on 6 chairs & no physical interaction. There is a lot of music used throughout & at one point a projector is used.
The actors all sit out facing the audience & do not react to each others physical presence on the stage. There are a variety of characters on stage - one is cynical, frustrated & angry, another is sweet & naive, another is questioning suicide,....
Interestingly, all the characters are given VERY high levels of eloquence - there is not "lol-ing" or "lmao-ing" here! :-D
I do not start directing for about a month & really want to include lots of drama games and exercises & make a real experience of the rehearsal period. However, I am currently having trouble of thinking of appropriate exercises for this play. :-(
Can anybody think of any drama games/execises that they think would be suitable?
Many thanks in advance & take care x :-)
