Hey! I haven't finished building my home recording studio yet, but I want to very soon.

I also have a Macbook, on which I will be using Audacity.

I'm currently looking for a good microphone and interface.

I'm also considering building my own version of the Harlan Hogan portable VO booth.

Portabooth - http://harlanhogan.com/PortaBoothArticle.php

I found the materials on Amazon and Walmart.com -

Cube - http://www.walmart.com/catalog...10944&ci_sku=6023206

Foam - http://www.amazon.com/Cascade-...B&colid=PPIKP2VUWIEJ

Yeah, I built my own porta-booth. I saved at least $100 doing that.

I think my mic and interface combination is one of the best for being under $400. I met with a guy who specialized in home recording for voiceover and he had different clips of the various popular mics and the Sterling ST55 sounded just as good if not better than those $1000+ mics. I actually liked what I was hearing from the ST55 than I did from something high end like KSM32.

The interface I use is small and simple to use. Nothing fancy and super affordable.

I have a home studio setup from years before as I'm also a musician and recording engineer/hobbyist.

My current setup:

- iMac
- Logic Pro 8 (I used to use Protools)
- Mics: Neumann TLM-103, Shure SM7, Rode NT5's
- Preamps: Great River ME-1NV, RNP
- AD/DA converter: Lucid 96/24
- I also have a bunch of effects, compressors (Kurzweil Rumour, RNC, MIDI interfaces, etc) but mostly for music

I've also acoustically treated the room with Auralex studio foam

For audio recording equipment I go to a bunch of places:

www.zzounds.com
www.bayviewproaudio.com
www.mercenary.com (if you have $$$)
www.sweetwater.com
www.musiciansfriend.com

(I'm not in any way affiliated with any of these sites)

Be sure you don't get the egg crate points, rather get the real pointy pyramid which is what is shown.

I had to buy extra to get what I needed.
I have extra cube available as well as some 2"x12x12" foam

Thanks Ray & Rita, I'll make sure to get the pyramid foam, which is what has been recommended by everyone. And I also see that I'll have to buy two sets of foam so that I have enough, but that's okay. I know the mesh cubes are sold in pairs as well.
