In movies, you rarely see people eat as well as pee. LOL. But there are some that have great scenes about eating.

1. Truth About Cats And Dogs -- when Ben feeds Uma the cheesecakes.

2. Liar Liar -- Maura Tierney slooping up the spaghetti while nodding and listening to Cary Elwes.

3. A.I. -- Haley Joel Osment shoveling the spinach into his mouth

4. The Hard Way -- Michael J. Fox trying to chow down french fried covered hot dogs

You know any??

When Harry Met Sally - This is is hands down winner in my book with Meg Ryan faking the orgasm.

Never Cry Wolf - When Tyler finally gets himself to eat mice. Special commendation for the tea drinking/territory marking scene - it even includes Gilbert and Sullivan.

Animal House - "I am a zit."

Stand by Me - The pie eating contest followed by the barforamma.

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory - I like the Wilder version over the Depp version. Nothing beats the blueberry girl. It still gives me the willies thinking about it.

Another one -- Lady and the Tramp....need I say more??

I love the Wilder one too but I think both blueberry girls did great. The Depp one has more "attitude". I just like the Wilder soundtrack better.

Wilder's Wonka (can I say that on this board) was more of a mysterious magical guy. Sometimes Depp's Wonka appeared to have some sort of disassociative personality disorder (I'm not a therapist but I play one on TV. haha!). He could only make sense to the visitors when he read from cards - what's up with that? I loved the way that Wilder warned the kids away from their misdeeds with a bored why-do-I-even-bother-to-say-it-because-they-will-ignore-me-anyway tone.

Back to the major topic of food... I also like the way that food is used as a plot device in the Sopranos. Almost ever major scene that moves the plot along happens with food on the screen. I read somewhere that this was deliberate decision of the writers and director. Cool idea and symbolism.

May I also add Chocolat to the list. Chocolate, sex, beautiful Depp (this time as a sane hero. yeah!) and redemption. What more can a movie offer?

Zippy girl, I hope you feel better soon. It sounds like you have been feeling really bad. I can't wait to see your contribution to this entertaining thread. I bet you don't even want to think of food right now.

Zippy is gonna be fine. She is working on a script and she is trying to figure out how to use her whisky flavored Cap N Crunch into the script...so she is being drunk now still figuring.

How many times do I have to tell you, Cappie, it's TEQUILA, not whiskey!

I'm still not eating much yet, to be sure...blech....

Some movies with food scenes I love - besides the ones mentioned (and I gotta say, I love Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka better, too - and the big eating scene in the Chocolate Room. Something about him eating his teacup....):

When Julian Sands makes a big "?" out of his food in "A Room With A View"...that always makes me laugh.

When the mexican girl is serving the guys in "The Magnificent Seven" and she keeps giving Horst Buchholz more and more beans while poor Steve McQueen sits there hoping...whatever happened to poor Horst anyway???

Susan Sarandon and Kevin Costner eating cereal in "Bull Durham" when he's dressed in her robe and they're stoned...hehehehe!

My favorite Captain Crunch moment - when Ally Sheedy makes her Captain Crunch and Pixie Stix sandwich in "The Breakfast Club"...

And my all time favorite - when Mary Louise Parker and Mary Stuart Masterson have the food fight in "Fried Green Tomatoes" with the tomatoes and chocolate frosting....I roll whenever I see that!!!

Urg....okay....enough about food.....my tummy needs another cup of tea now.....

You reminded me of Close Encounter of the Third Kind when Richard Dreyfus was making the mash potatoe mountain.

This is really random but In License To Drive when everyone is having family dinner and the pregnant mom scoops up about four servings worth of mashed potatoes. Does anybody remember that??

There are way too many from the "original" Willy Wonka. In addition, the Augustus interview when he first is introduced and his dad eats the microphone.

What about the tater tots from "Napoleon Dynamite"?

My eating favorite part of that movie is that the only decent food in the movie is fed to the stupid llama.

"Tina, come get some ham!!!"

LOVE in Billy Madison when Adam Sandler takes a *HUGE* bite of his sloppy joe, right as he is finishing a sentence. I always laugh at that.

I thought of a few more - like in "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" when Hermione makes the sleeping potion cupcakes and the two thugs find them floating in the hallway. They just start stuffing them in their mouths like greedy pigs and then fall over. And in the oldie kids movie "Young Sherlock Holmes" when Watson gets hit with the dart that makes a person hallucinate, he sees a tombstone open up like a sweetshop and all the pastries come and wrestle him to the ground and then one stuffs itself in his mouth.

Oh, my, can't you tell I am just SOOOOOO busy at work??!!!!!
