Since I don't drink, I'll stick to the "just plain good eatin'": 1.) Soul Mountain Cafe' - located in my hometown of Front Royal, VA. Started by a an old friend. Includes a menu full of Soul/Caribbean excellence, in a classy setting. 2.) Meskerem Ethiopian Restaurant - located in Adams Morgan, DC. My 1st Ethiopian experience, therefore the most special. 3.) Hard Times Cafe, because sometimes you just want some tasty chili, even if it has 3,000 calories. 4.) Ma Dukes Soul Food - located near Bergen and Flatbush in Brooklyn. Used to remind me of home, when I lived there. 5.) Pizza Hut - still a sucker for them.

Everyone is proud of their own town and they all have good food, so let er rip! Make that ANY city... I've been in VA many times, have many friends and family there. In ten years I've never been to Brooklyn (like some New Yorkers have never been to the Statue of Liberty), but I understand that they have marvelous food there, little Mom and Pop places with fantastic quality and variety. I even want to go to that Latino food fest at the soccer field in Red Hook (saw it on No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain, my favorite foodie show). I heard the ethnic eats in Queens and Flushing is outta sight. I've enjoyed Ethiopian in LA, it was the first time time I ever ate with my hands! I liked that funny bread.

Danceteria... it closed down in 1986. --- In my home town any bar or restaurant is the best one when I am in it. Special mentions to Frankenmouth. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOkspLV4ghs

'Round that time, when I was playing the downtown clubs...Max's Kansis City, Mudd club, CBGBs, Heartbreak. Ah good times. Like I always say, "If I met you in the 80s, I apologize".

Nope, it's the only club I know in NYC though. Desperately Seeking Susan shows the club, so that's how I know it's existence.

Yes! I think the bread is called "injera." One of the main draws, if you ask me.

NYC (note: these will be vegan or mosty vegan but delicious. I promise!) Candle 79 Ask for the piccata. And instead of bread in the beginning, they serve you these adorable little strawberry muffins! YUM Babycakes Vegan bakery. REALLY good brownies and cookies. Candle Cafe The cool brooklyn-esque (is it in Brooklyn? I don't actually know, lol.) counterpart to Candle 79. Good lasagna! Blossom Absolutely delicious gourmet restaurant. Has breakfast, lunch and dinner. I regretfully have never ate breakfast there. Featuring Ravioli with Cashew Cream and Seitan cutlets in a white wine, lemon and caper sauce, served with mashed potatoes and sautéed kale. YUM. That's all off the top of my head.
